About The Author..

Who am I? No no, I am definitely not a famous person. My name is Clement Chee and I am just the author of this blog. Seriously, I don't know what to say about myself. I'll update this bit when I have got more to share about myself okay? For this moment, I hope you will find my blog interesting to read.

Being A Possibility Thinker - Own Ability

Recently I have been appointed to be the assistant leader to lead a group of 200 hundred people. Whenever my leader is not around, I will have to take the lead to motivate them and keep them stay strong.

One of my biggest challenges is the inability to lead them to cheer for the group. It means, I will have to shout FIRST before they do. I have to lead them to shout as loud as possible, in order to make the group of 200 people look united and strong.

cheer-leading

I often tried to avoid taking the lead and if there is a chance that I could possibly find someone else to lead the cheer, I would ask him to do for me.

As a result of my fear to shout in front of the crowd, my team performance is going down people even say that our team is the lousiest team among the rest.

I was so disappointed. It was not because of my team that looked weak or their inability to shout, but it was my fear to take the lead. The whole team went down just like that.

I went out to take a deep breath and said to myself, “Clement, you have no choice but you will have to take the lead or no one else is going to do it”. I was still very reluctant and I forced myself to shout in front of others.

I finally did and it wasn’t that bad after all. After breaking the fear of shouting in front of a lot of people, I finally keep shouting until I did not care about I looked.

The point I am trying to make here is this. If want to be a possibility thinker, it will have to start from you alone and not others.

You may be wishing that your boss or supervisor will look at you performance and you think that the possibility to get promoted in the company is very much dependent on their ability to see your performance.

This is the wrong strategy.

Let’s say if you want to get promoted in your company, you will need to work extra hard and be a problem solver. Make yourself an asset to the company that they simply cannot afford to lose you.

Now that you have been working hard and creating value for the company and you think that you deserve a raise in your salary or a promotion. What you do is that, you do not WISH your boss to see your performance but rather take full responsibility to show it to your boss that you are actually creating a value in your company.

If he raises your pay, then good. If he does not, leave the company because if you are able to create this much of value for this company that you have been working for, you can do the same thing for other companies as well. They are more than ready to pay you well.

So the lesson of this post is this. A possibility thinker starts with his own ability. Oprah Winfrey says this. “It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always.”
